This Billing & Refund Policy explains charges, automatic renewal, cancellation, refunds, subscription allowances, and related billing terms for Rick paid subscriptions.
1. Paid subscriptions
Rick currently offers the following monthly paid subscriptions:
- Rick Plus — USD $9.99/month
- Rick Plus Voice — USD $16.99/month
Taxes or other charges required by law may be added and, where applicable, will be shown before you complete payment.
Prices and available plans may change in accordance with the section below on price or material subscription changes.
2. Automatic monthly renewal
Paid subscriptions automatically renew each month until canceled.
Before you complete Checkout, we will display the applicable subscription price, billing frequency, automatic-renewal terms, and available cancellation method.
By completing Checkout and affirmatively agreeing to the subscription terms, you authorize STARTORK, through Stripe or another authorized payment provider, to charge your selected payment method at the beginning of each applicable billing period until you cancel.
After purchase, we will provide confirmation of your subscription and information about how to manage or cancel it in a form you can retain.
3. Billing period and renewal date
Your subscription operates on a monthly billing cycle.
Your current billing period, next renewal date, subscription status, and applicable plan information are shown in your account or billing settings.
Unless you cancel before the applicable renewal takes effect, your subscription will renew for another monthly billing period and the applicable subscription price will be charged.
Monthly subscription allowances reset at the beginning of each new billing period unless expressly stated otherwise.
Unused monthly subscription allowances do not roll over into a later billing period unless the applicable purchase page expressly says they do.
4. Subscription allowances
Subscription allowances are measured separately for:
- Rick text replies; and
- Rick voice generation characters.
Voice calls do not consume the monthly Rick text reply allowance.
Rick Plus
Rick Plus currently includes, for each monthly billing period:
- 3,200 Rick text replies
- 5,000 Rick voice generation characters
- text-to-speech playback for eligible Rick replies
- voice calling, subject to the available voice character balance
- long-term memory features
- Relationship Learning
- chat history
The 3,200-text-reply allowance applies only to Rick replies generated through text chat.
Rick replies generated during a voice call do not reduce the 3,200-text-reply allowance.
Rick Plus Voice
Rick Plus Voice currently includes, for each monthly billing period:
- 3,200 Rick text replies
- 100,000 Rick voice generation characters
- text-to-speech playback for eligible Rick replies
- full voice calling, subject to the available voice character balance
- long-term memory features
- Relationship Learning
- chat history
As with Rick Plus, Rick replies generated during voice calls do not reduce the 3,200-text-reply allowance.
5. How usage is measured
Text replies
One Rick text reply is generally deducted when a successful user text-chat request results in a new Rick text response.
Voice-call replies are accounted for separately and do not consume the monthly text reply allowance.
Failed generations, system errors, and automatic retries should not result in duplicate deductions for the same successful reply.
Voice generation characters
Rick voice generation characters measure the characters submitted for generation of Rick's voice.
They may be used for:
- generating Rick's spoken replies during voice calls; and
- generating audio when you use the supported read-aloud feature for a Rick text reply.
Voice usage is deducted according to the actual amount of eligible content generated.
Playing the same already-generated audio again does not consume additional voice generation characters where the existing generated audio is reused.
Generating different or newly requested audio may consume additional voice generation characters.
Separate allowances
Text and voice allowances operate independently.
If you use all of your monthly text reply allowance but still have voice generation characters available, you may continue using eligible voice features.
If you use all of your voice generation characters but still have text replies available, you may continue using text chat.
6. Voice usage estimates
We may display estimated numbers of voice replies or estimated Rick speaking time to help explain a voice allowance.
For example, using current planning assumptions:
- 5,000 voice characters may correspond to approximately 25 Rick voice replies or about 5 minutes of Rick-generated speech.
- 100,000 voice characters may correspond to approximately 500 Rick voice replies or about 100 minutes of Rick-generated speech.
These figures are estimates only.
Actual voice reply counts and speaking time vary depending on the length of Rick's responses, punctuation, language, speech generation behavior, and other technical factors.
The applicable voice generation character allowance, rather than an estimated number of replies or minutes, is the controlling usage allowance.
Any estimated voice duration refers to Rick's generated speaking time and not necessarily the total duration of a voice conversation, which may also include your speaking time, pauses, processing time, and other interaction time.
7. Voice add-ons
Eligible paid subscribers may be offered optional one-time voice add-ons.
Current add-ons may include:
Voice Boost — USD $3.99
Adds:
- 30,000 Rick voice generation characters
- no additional text replies
For illustration, 30,000 characters may correspond to approximately 150 Rick voice replies or approximately 30 minutes of Rick-generated speech under current usage assumptions.
Voice Boost Plus — USD $7.99
Adds:
- 80,000 Rick voice generation characters
- no additional text replies
For illustration, 80,000 characters may correspond to approximately 400 Rick voice replies or approximately 80 minutes of Rick-generated speech under current usage assumptions.
Estimated replies and minutes are not guaranteed allowances.
The applicable purchase page will show any expiration, rollover, eligibility, or other conditions that apply to an add-on before purchase.
Add-on purchases are separate transactions and do not change the renewal price of your underlying monthly subscription unless expressly stated during purchase.
8. Free trials and promotional access
Rick may offer free trials, promotional access, or other introductory offers.
The current 3-Day Rick Trial provides eligible new users with:
- three consecutive days of trial access;
- up to 250 Rick text replies in total during the trial;
- no included Rick voice generation characters; and
- no included dynamic voice calling.
Available trial features may also include supported memory, Relationship Learning, and chat history functionality.
Eligibility restrictions may apply, including limits on obtaining more than one trial.
Any payment, conversion, expiration, or automatic-renewal terms associated with a particular trial or promotional offer will be clearly disclosed before you accept that offer. A trial does not authorize charges beyond terms that are disclosed to you and affirmatively accepted by you.
9. Cancellation
You may cancel your paid subscription online at any time through:
Settings → Manage Subscription
or through other billing controls made available through your account.
We will not require unnecessary additional steps that obstruct or unreasonably delay an online cancellation.
Cancellation normally stops future automatic renewal and takes effect at the end of your already-paid billing period.
You may continue using the paid features and remaining applicable allowances of your subscription until the end of that billing period, unless your access is suspended or terminated under our Terms of Service for another reason.
After cancellation takes effect, you will not be charged for the next monthly billing period unless you later renew or purchase another paid subscription.
10. Failed payments
If a payment is declined, expires, cannot be processed, or otherwise fails, STARTORK or its authorized payment provider may retry the payment as permitted by applicable law and payment-network rules.
We may notify you and ask you to update your payment method.
If payment remains unsuccessful, we may restrict, suspend, downgrade, or terminate paid subscription features until payment is successfully completed.
A failed payment does not entitle you to continued paid service without payment.
11. Refunds
Except where required by applicable law, subscription charges and other completed purchases are generally non-refundable.
We do not ordinarily provide prorated refunds or credits for:
- unused subscription time;
- unused monthly text replies;
- unused monthly voice generation characters; or
- cancellation before the end of a paid billing period.
We will review duplicate charges, billing errors, unauthorized or incorrectly processed charges, and refunds required by applicable law.
STARTORK may, at its discretion, provide a refund, account credit, additional access, or another adjustment in other circumstances.
Any discretionary refund, credit, or adjustment is provided on a case-by-case basis and does not create an entitlement to the same or similar treatment in the future.
Nothing in this Policy limits any consumer protection or statutory right that cannot lawfully be waived.
12. Price or material subscription changes
We may change subscription prices, included features, allowances, or other subscription terms from time to time.
Where required by applicable law, we will provide advance notice of a price increase or other material subscription change before it takes effect and will provide information about how to cancel before the change applies.
The timing and method of notice may vary depending on applicable law and your subscription.
If you do not wish to continue under the changed terms, you may cancel your subscription before the change becomes effective.
13. Plan and usage rules
Plan features, usage allowances, quota measurement, resets, add-on conditions, and technical or anti-abuse restrictions may also be described on the applicable purchase page and in our Plan & Usage Rules.
Where a numerical allowance is presented as part of your purchased plan, that allowance applies subject to the measurement rules described for that feature.
You may not use automated scripts, shared-account arrangements, repeated artificial requests, account manipulation, or other methods intended to bypass usage allowances, rate limits, eligibility restrictions, or service protections.
We may apply reasonable technical safeguards, rate limits, or other measures to protect Rick, other users, and the integrity of the Service, subject to our Terms of Service and applicable law.
14. Billing support
If you believe a charge is incorrect, duplicated, unauthorized, or otherwise requires review, contact:
Please provide enough information for us to identify the relevant account and transaction, but do not send full payment-card numbers or other unnecessary sensitive payment information by email.
You may also have rights or dispute procedures available through your payment provider or under applicable law.
